Bloom Bag Instructions

This pre-inoculated, all-in-one system is designed for ease and reliable results. Your bag has been inoculated before shipping and will continue to colonize at your location.

Colonization Stage

1. Give it some air! (A.S.A.P.)
Do not open your bag. Gently pull the bag’s sidewalls apart — this naturally draws in a small amount of clean, fresh air through the filter patch. The .2 micron filter is designed for safe air exchange, so no need to fan or unseal it.

2. Break & Shake (5-20 days after inoculation date)
When mycelium (white mass) grows around 30-50% of the bag’s contents. Prep your space and hands; remove rings or anything that might puncture the bag. Hold the bag and gently squeeze to loosen the mycelial mass. Break up any larger clumps, and mix the colonized parts evenly throughout the rest of the substrate.

3. Shape for success! (Immediately after Break & Shake)
From the outside of the bag, press down lightly but firmly on the block; start at the center and work outward to the sides. This helps fill air pockets and ensures an even surface for colonization. Keep the top surface flat and avoid over-compressing.
Send love through your hands…

3. Set and forget…
Place your bag in a clean area with indirect light.
Optimal temperature: 72–75°F (acceptable range: 60–80°F).
Avoid direct sunlight, moving the bag, or pressing on the block once shaped.
You’ll see your mycelium cake bounce back in under a week.

Perfect for:
Testing environments — use as a control for your research.
Morphology studies — observe colonization and fruiting patterns.
Taxonomy experiments — compare structural and developmental traits.
Educational research — hands-on, low-maintenance fungal exploration.
